The 132nd China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Operation Launched

Reporter Ma Yan and correspondent Lu Jinyun reported that on August 22nd at 9:00 pm, a joint patrol and law enforcement team consisting of three Chinese law enforcement boats, one Lao law enforcement boat, and one Myanmar law enforcement boat set sail from the Jingha Police Terminal in Xishuangbanna, China, marking the official launch of the 132nd China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation.

Before the operation, the law enforcement agencies of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand held a joint meeting and information exchange meeting among the four countries' commanders at the China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Joint Command in Xishuangbanna, China. They jointly analyzed and judged the recent cross-border illegal and criminal situation in the Mekong River Basin, and consulted on the implementation of the relevant arrangements for the launch meeting of the China Thailand Myanmar Laos Joint Action against Gambling and Fraud Groups. The four sides unanimously stated that they will continue to deepen practical law enforcement cooperation and exchanges, continuously increase the crackdown on various cross-border illegal crimes derived from gambling and fraud in the Mekong River Basin, and maintain the security and stability of the basin.

It is reported that this operation will be carried out through segmented cruising and full line joint patrol law enforcement, and is expected to take 4 days and 3 nights. During the operation, China will rotate the duty teams of the China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Liaison Point in Monmo, Laos and the Ban Xiangguo Liaison Point.
